Police in Greenbelt are searching for man who, they say, shot another man during an attempted robbery Monday night.

The victim was in a car in the 9200 block of Edmonston Road when the assailant, armed with a shotgun and wearing a black hooded sweat shirt, approached just after 8 p.m., police said.

The gunman shot the other man, who police said was 32 years old. The victim was taken to Prince George's Hospital Center with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Greenbelt police Capt. Thomas Kemp said helicopter and canine units searched the neighborhood after the shooting, trying without success to locate the suspect.

No additional details were immediately available.
