A Gaithersburg woman and her two teenage daughters were hospitalized Wednesday after the family's pit bull attacked them in their home, Montgomery County police said.
The 35-year-old mother stabbed the dog with a kitchen knife after it bit her 15-year-old and 19-year-old daughters, said Lucille Baur, a police spokeswoman. The police's Animal Services Division, which was called to the scene, took the dog to a veterinarian for treatment and observation.
The family members, of the 10000 block of Ridgeline Drive, were taken to a hospital with wounds that did not appear to be life-threatening. The family told police the dog had been acting erratically for the past week.
