Chantilly junior Ji Soo Park shot a 1-over-par 72 to claim a two-stroke lead after the first round of the Virginia AAA golf tournament Monday at Waterfront Country Club in Moneta.
Northern Region champion Westfield has the first-round team lead. Led by Tim Ritter's 74 and a 78 from Shabril Brewer, the Bulldogs posted a 312 for a two-stroke lead over Madison.
Tied with Ritter for second place were Centreville's Noori Hyun, Madison's Joe Moloney and First Colonial's Andrew McCracken. Andrew Lister of Battlefield was among those shooting 75.
The tournament's final round is Tuesday.
In Maryland, Bart George of Broadneck shot an even-par 74 to take a two-stroke lead over Ryan Cole of Linganore in the boys' tournament. Diana Brown of Churchill birdied three of her first four holes and is tied with Mckenzie Cutter of North Point for the girls' tournament lead at 78.
Urbana shot 327 and leads the Maryland 4A/3A team tournament; Churchill is at 331 and North Point 332.
The Maryland 2A/1A tournament first round is Tuesday, with each classification playing its final round on Wednesday.
