The Capital Running Co.'s Kathy Freedman, who organizes the Jingle All the Way 10K, has witnessed an increase in folks racing in Santa hats and reindeer antlers. "One year there was even a guy running with a menorah on his head," she says. Try to top that at one of these upcoming races.

HIGH HEEL RACE This two-block Dupont Circle tradition isn't so much about the exercise as it is about the fabulous duds. Expect more sauntering than sprinting. Oct. 27 at 9 p.m. 17th and Church streets NW. Free.

YMCA-BETHESDA CHEVY CHASE TURKEY CHASE 10K The largest race in Montgomery County always inspires at least a few runners to dress up like gobblers. Nov. 26 at 8:30 a.m. 9401 Old Georgetown Rd., Bethesda. 301-530-3725 or http://www.turkeychase.com. Registration $26-$45.

JINGLE ALL THE WAY 10K Along with a bib and T-shirt, registered runners get a set of jingle bells to tie to their shoes. Dec. 13 at 7:45 a.m. West Potomac Park, Ohio and West Basin drives SW. http://www.runwashington.com. Registration $20-$30.
