The "People's Marathon" returns Sunday for the 34th year. Whether you're running, cheering or feeling exhausted by just reading the word "marathon," the annual event is a sight: 30,000 people running 26.2 miles around Washington landmarks. Runners start at 8 a.m. (7:50 for wheelchair and hand-cycle participants). There are multiple locations for spectators to view the race, including the Lincoln Memorial and the Marine Corps War Memorial. Supporters are encouraged to bring signs so runners can spot them in the crowd. The start line is on Route 110 near Memorial Bridge in Arlington. A related event, a Health and Fitness Expo with more than 200 vendors, takes place Friday and Saturday at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
Registrations for running the marathon are sold out, but spectators can watch for free. For more information, call 703-432-1159 or visit http:/
