Annette B. Swider CIA Officer
Annette B. Swider, 65, who worked for the Central Intelligence Agency from 1966 to 1995 and was a member of member of the Senior Intelligence Service, died Oct. 8 at her home in Annandale. She had breast cancer.
Ms. Swider started her career at the CIA as a reports officer in the directorate of operations. She later was an executive officer for the Center for Security Evaluation and worked with the State Department on embassy security.
Annette Barbara Swider was a Providence, R.I., native and a 1966 political science graduate of the University of Rhode Island. She then moved to Northern Virginia to work for the CIA.
She created and maintained a garden with statuary that she opened to others for meditation. She collected children's books dating to the early 1900s.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Robert Powell of Annandale, and a brother.

Patricia N. Long Accountant
Patricia N. Long, 80, who was an accountant for her husband, Raymond Long, a lawyer in McLean, during the 1980s, died Oct. 7 at her home in McLean after a heart attack.
From 1972 to 1980, she was an accountant at the Joshua Tree, an old restaurant in McLean. Earlier, she was an accountant at the Hecht's department store in McLean.
Patricia Nina Roman was a New York City native. She moved to the Washington region in the late 1950s.
She was a volunteer with the Virginia State Board of Elections and the Treasure Trove, a consignment shop in McLean. She also was a Spanish language interpreter for various businesses in Northern Virginia.
