A District man has been charged with killing one man and wounding another in a double shooting Oct. 12, police said Thursday.

Curtis Waldron, 20, of Southeast Washington was charged with first-degree murder while armed and assault with intent to kill in the death of Chicquelo Abney and the shooting of a second victim.

The two were found shot in the early afternoon on the 1300 block of First Street SW, police said. Abney, 18, was pronounced dead at a hospital later that day.

Authorities arrested Waldron at 7 p.m. Thursday in the 500 block of Indiana Avenue NW, according to police.

Police have not specified a motive for the shooting. They have also not released the identity of the surviving victim because he is considered a witness in the case.
