NAVY VS. WAKE FOREST

Backup plan: Navy sophomore Kriss Proctor will make his first career start at quarterback, because junior Ricky Dobbs is sidelined with an injured right knee. Proctor is not the passer that Dobbs is, but he is comfortable running the option and is slightly faster than the more physical Dobbs. Against Rice, Proctor ran for 82 yards and scored three touchdowns in relief of Dobbs. Junior fullback Vince Murray could help take the pressure off of Proctor; he ran for a career-best 141 yards and two touchdowns last week against SMU.
Familiar foe: This will be the fourth meeting between the two teams since the start of the 2007 season; in that span, Wake Forest has not played a single game against ACC rivals Virginia Tech or Georgia Tech. Last year, the Midshipmen upset the 16th-ranked Demon Deacons, 24-17, in September -- Navy's first win over a team ranked in the Associated Press top 25 since 1985 -- but fell to them, 29-19, in the inaugural EagleBank Bowl in December.
As Skinner goes: Wake Forest senior quarterback Riley Skinner, a four-year starter and one of the most polished passers the Midshipmen will face this season, struggled badly last weekend in a 38-3 loss at Clemson. He competed 11 of 24 passes for just 82 yards and was intercepted twice. Navy saw the best and worst of Skinner in its two games against the Demon Deacons in 2008: Skinner committed five turnovers -- four interceptions and a fumble -- in the Midshipmen's win, and completed all 11 passes he attempted for 166 yards and a touchdown in Wake Forest's bowl win.
