STAR OF THE DAY
Carson Palmer
QB, Cincinnati Bengals
Palmer had his best game of the season, completing 20 of 24 passes for 233 yards and five touchdowns in a 45-10 victory over Chicago. Two of Palmer's touchdowns went to wide receiver Chad Ochocinco, the first for eight yards in the first quarter and the second covering 13 yards in the third quarter. Palmer came out of the game midway through the fourth quarter.
INJURY REPORT
New York Jets running back Leon Washington broke his right leg in the first quarter against the Oakland Raiders and underwent surgery after the game. He is expected to miss the rest of the season.
Washington went down on his only carry when a defender rolled up on his right leg after a six-yard run. Teammates said the bone broke through the skin and it was visible on the field.
Washington was helped off the field by two trainers and then taken away on a cart. He had surgery on a broken right fibula immediately after the Jets' 38-0 victory. . . .
Houston wide receiver Andre Johnson bruised his chest in the Texans' 24-21 win over the 49ers. Coach Gary Kubiak said Johnson was taken to a hospital to be examined.
"We're concerned," Kubiak said. "He could not go at the end and so there is concern until we see."
Johnson was shaken up on a play in the fourth quarter and remained on the field on his hands and knees for a few minutes before walking to the sideline. He returned for one play but was held out of the Texans' next series.
He was seen talking to Houston's medical staff for several minutes before he was escorted off the field. Johnson had two receptions for 62 yards. . . .
New England Patriots defensive lineman Ty Warren injured his ankle against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was driven off the field in a cart. It was unclear which ankle was injured in the game at Wembley Stadium, but Warren's right shoe was off as he was being led into the tunnel.
