The trial of four religious cult members accused of starving a Baltimore toddler to death has been postponed.
Authorities say the cult leader, Queen Antoinette, and her three followers starved 1-year-old Javon Thompson because the boy did not say "Amen" after meals. Javon's mother was also part of the cult and pleaded guilty to child abuse resulting in death. She is expected to testify against the other members.
Antoinette, Trevia Williams and Steven Bynum were set to receive a new trial date later Monday. The fourth defendant, Marcus Cobbs, will have his case heard Friday. Cobbs and Bynum were indicted last week on new charges of accessory after the fact.
Antoinette and Williams are representing themselves, and prosecutors are filing a motion to have the case specially assigned to a single judge.
