One driver was killed and another injured in a head-on crash on Route 235 in St. Mary's County on Tuesday, and county sheriff's deputies are trying to determine what caused the accident.

Capt. Edward Willenborg, a patrol commander, said a man driving a Honda south on Route 235 crossed the center line about 7 a.m. and struck a Chevy Trailblazer heading north. The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene, and the woman driving the Trailblazer was taken to St. Mary's Hospital with injuries.

The crash investigation slowed morning traffic on the roadway. Authorities declined to identify the man pending notification of his family.
