What to watch: Michelle Obama, Jill Biden at Yankee Stadium

Wednesday, October 28, 2009

-- Michelle Obama and Jill Biden will attend Game 1 of the World Series at Yankee Stadium, after a visit earlier in the day to a veterans care facility in the Bronx. Major League Baseball is dedicating Game 1 to veterans and their families.

-- The Commerce Department will release two big sets of numbers. First up, durable goods orders for September at 8:30 a.m. Then, at 10 a.m., a report on September sales of new homes.

-- The House Judiciary Committee will hold a 10 a.m. hearing on "Legal Issues Relating to Football Head Injuries." Testifying will be National Football League Commissioner Roger S. Goodell, NFL Players Association Executive Director DeMaurice Smith, former New York Giant Tiki Barber and others.

-- And something to make you feel old, no matter what age you are. At 11:30 a.m., ACT, which designs and administers the college entrance exams so many of us took, marks its 50th anniversary with a ceremony at Union Station's Columbus Club.

Happy birthday, meritocracy.
