If you're planning to improve your home's energy efficiency, 2009 and 2010 are great years to do so. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, or "stimulus bill," which was signed into law earlier this year, extended the eligibility period for energy-efficiency tax credits that already were expanded under 2008's "bailout bill."
Many products -- including windows and doors, roofing, insulation, and indoor heating and cooling systems -- are covered. The purchase of some renewable-energy systems and products will have tax benefits through 2016.
