HALLOWEEN WEEK
Haunted Metrobus to stop in Anacostia
Ghosts, goblins and ghouls will be haunting the Anacostia Station on Thursday when Metro's "Boo Bus" goes on display.
The Halloween-themed bus, "decorated with fake cobwebs, creepy crawlers and ghosts," will be available for children to tour from noon to 2 p.m., the transit agency said in a statement. The station is on Howard Road SE between Martin Luther King Jr. and Firth Sterling avenues.
Metro said the event, which had been on a two-year hiatus, is supported with money donated by transit agency employees.
"We feel that it's very important to give back to the community by providing a fun and safe event for children and their parents here in Southeast," said Alva Kelly, a Metro service operations manager and one of the organizers.
Metro employees will give away treats, and Metro Transit Police and McGruff the Crime Dog will hand out safety tips for trick-or-treaters, the agency said.
