HIGHLIGHTS

Though Halloween is Saturday, PBS has spooky-themed programming for kids on Friday, as "Dinosaur Train" (WETA at 10 a.m.) features a nighttime train ride, investigating animals that come out after dark.

Lisa Niemi, the widow of actor Patrick Swayze, talks about the last days of her husband's life and her grieving process on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" (WJLA at 4 p.m.).

The Weather Channel branches out with weather-themed movies, airing the George Clooney thriller "The Perfect Storm" (at 8).

Zak, Nick and Aaron travel to Weston, W.Va., to spends seven hours in the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum on "Ghost Adventures Live!" (Travel at 8), which airs the scary adventures until 3 a.m.

"Halloween on Ice" (Hallmark at 8) has skating performances from Olympic medalist Nancy Kerrigan, along with Todd Eldredge and Elvis Stojko.

Melinda can deal with being haunted by the "Legend of Sleepy Hollow's" headless horseman, but she freaks out when the book shows up at Aiden's school on "Ghost Whisperer" (CBS at 8).

On "Bill Moyers Journal" (WETA and MPT at 9), economist James K. Galbraith talks about the economy and Americans who are in financial trouble.

Marc thought his luck couldn't get worse when he lost out on a promotion, but now he's asked to be Betty's temporary assistant on "Ugly Betty" (ABC at 9).

Allison suddenly finds herself in scenes from the horror film "Night of the Living Dead" on "Medium" (CBS at 9), but then discovers clues that could solve the case of a murdered funeral director.

Pit bulls can get a bad rap, and 49-year-old mother and pit bull trainer Tia Maria Torres tries to change people's perceptions on "Pit Bulls and Parolees" (Animal Planet at 10).

Actor John Cusack and comedian Frank Caliendo visit "The Jay Leno Show" (NBC at 10).

"The Politics Program With Mark Plotkin" (NewsChannel 8 at 11) hosts Virginia gubernatorial candidates Creigh Deeds (D) and Bob McDonnell (R).

Regis Philbin stops by "Late Show With David Letterman" (CBS at 11:35) and Weezer performs.

Pumpkin grower Don Young talks up the gourd on "The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien" (NBC at 11:35), and monster-truck driver Dennis Anderson smashes some with his vehicle; actress Susie Essman ("Curb Your Enthusiasm") also appears, and Alice in Chains performs.
