When you were a kid, was there a TV show you wouldn't miss?

When we first got a television, I would watch "Howdy Doody," which was a children's show, and a show called "Frontier Theatre," which largely featured westerns. . . . The West fascinated me.

What music do you listen to?

"Evita," "Phantom of the Opera," but at the same time, I downloaded classic, old-time rhythm and blues. I have over 1,000 songs on my iPod that I enjoy immensely.

What do you do to relax?

Read, and I try to play golf. But I'm a voracious reader. I read every night. It enables me to go to sleep. . . . I read biographies constantly. Also, I do crossword puzzles.

The best advice you ever received?

My father, the first paycheck I earned, he marched me to the bank and made me open a savings account. . . . I was 11 or 12 at the time. I've saved money and lived by that motto ever since.
