Spec. Brandon K. Steffey, 23, of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.; 178th Military Police Detachment, 89th Military Police Brigade, 3rd Corps, based at Fort Hood, Tex. Killed Oct. 25 in Laghman province.

Staff Sgt. Keith R. Bishop, 28, of Medford, N.Y.

Sgt. Josue E. Hernandez Chavez, 23, of Reno, Nev.

Chief Warrant Officer Niall Lyons, 40, of Spokane, Wash.

Staff Sgt. Shawn H. McNabb, 24, of Terrell, Tex.

Sgt. 1st Class David E. Metzger, 32, of San Diego.

Chief Warrant Officer Michael P. Montgomery, 36, of Savannah, Ga.

Sgt. Nikolas A. Mueller, 26, of Little Chute, Wis.

Chavez, Lyons, McNabb, Montgomery and Mueller were assigned to 3rd Battalion, 160th Special Operations Regiment (Airborne), based at Hunter Army Airfield, Ga. Bishop and Metzger were assigned to 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), based at Fort Bragg, N.C. All seven soldiers were killed Oct. 26 in Darreh-ye Bum when their helicopter crashed.
