Virginia led Duke until late in the fourth quarter, when Duke's Thaddeus Lewis found Connor Vernon for a 42-yard touchdown to give the Blue Devils an 18-17 lead with 3 minutes 45 seconds left. Then the Cavaliers began to self-destruct:

1st and 2nd down -- Jameel Sewell throws two incompletions.
3rd down -- Sewell fumbles, and Duke's Charlie Hatcher recovers it and takes it in for a seven-yard touchdown, followed by an extra point. 25-17, Duke

1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th downs -- Sewell throws three incompletions before being sacked for a 10-yard loss.
Duke at 3:22
1st down -- No gain
2nd down -- After a five-yard penalty, Jay Hollingsworth rushes five yards.
3rd down -- Hollingsworth gains four yards.
4th down -- Will Snyderwine kicks a 43-yard field goal. 28-17, Duke
