A D.C. man was found shot to death in the driver's seat of an SUV stopped on the shoulder of the road Saturday in Prince George's County, authorities said.

Just after 3:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a man sitting inside a suspicious vehicle in the 13000 block of Larchdale Road near Laurel, said Officer Henry Tippett, a spokesman for the Prince George's County Police Department.

Officers found 28-year-old Emanuel William Palmer, of the 2300 block of Good Hope Road SE in Washington dead in the driver's seat of a Chevrolet Suburban. He had a gunshot wound to the upper body, Tippett said.

Tippett said it was unclear whether Palmer was killed at that scene or drove there after being attacked at some earlier point.
