A two-year-old boy was killed Sunday after becoming entangled in a cord in his Damascus home, authorities said.

Just after 3 p.m., police and rescue workers were called to a home on Valley Park Court for the report of a child in distress. They arrived to find two-year-old boy with life-threatening injuries. The child later died at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, authorities said.

Exactly what happened to the boy remains unclear, but authorities said the injuries appear to be accidental. Investigators believe the child became entangled in an electrical cord or another type of cord on blinds or curtains.
