In 1994, the Advertising Media Credit Executives Association named him credit executive of the year.

Donald Wayne Woodall was a native of Winston-Salem, N.C., and a 1969 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received a master's degree in business administration in 1988 from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.

He had a condominium in Arlington County during his years at The Post and maintained his home in Roselle.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Maureen Stockert Woodall of Roselle; two daughters, Anne Whalan of London and Susan Woodall of St. Louis; and a brother.
