Boy, 2, dies in Damascus home

A 2-year-old boy died Sunday after becoming entangled in a cord in his Damascus home, authorities said.

Just after 3 p.m., police and rescue workers were called to a home on Valley Park Court on a report of a child in distress. The boy, identified as Thapelo Andre Kwofie, died later at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, authorities said.

Authorities said the death appears to be accidental. Investigators think the child became entangled in an electrical or other type of cord. An autopsy will be performed at the state medical examiner's office in Baltimore.
