A robber wearing a Halloween skeleton mask and armed with a semiautomatic handgun stole money Monday from a SunTrust bank along Connecticut Avenue just south of the Capital Beltway, authorities said.

Police said the suspect, who was also wearing dark clothing, entered the bank at 8510 Connecticut Ave. in the Chevy Chase area about 11 a.m., was given cash, and fled in a white sedan driven by another person. Investigators believe the two then ditched the car and transferred to a black Mercedes Benz, possibly a 2004 or 2005 model, according to a police spokeswoman.

No bank employees were injured.
