A massive fire in Upper Marlboro early Tuesday morning gutted one home and damaged two others, authorities said.

Just before 2 a.m., several people called 911 to report flames and smoke coming from a home in the 13200 block of Ailesbury Court, authorities said. Firefighters arrived to find a two-story, single-family home completely engulfed in flames. They soon learned that there were broken natural gas lines inside.

It took 30 firefighters nearly an hour and a half to completely extinguish the blaze, which authorities said burned "so intensely" that the fire could not be fought from inside the home.

No one was injured, and only one family was displaced.

Investigators estimate the flames and smoke caused about $300,000 in damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
