Bite-and-run reported

LEESBURG, Battlefield Pkwy., Oct. 28. A woman reported that a white Labrador-type dog was running in the road and that when she tried to move it, the dog bit her hand and ran into a neighborhood. An animal control officer met with the woman and filed a report. The dog was not found.

Thin horse raises concerns

ROUND HILL, Lakefield Dr., Oct. 30. An animal control officer was flagged down by a resident concerned about the welfare of a horse. The officer met with the owner, who said the horse was sick and under veterinary care. The owner provided vet records and contact information for the veterinarian. The officer found that the horse was thin but not in distress; no violations were found.

Dog separated from owners

ROUND HILL, Williams Gap Rd., Nov. 1. A woman said a dog that appeared injured was lying in her driveway. A responding animal control officer found the dog walking around and apparently uninjured. The dog had identification and was returned to the address listed. No one was home, so the dog was taken to the animal shelter, and notice was left for the owners.

Poodle-type dog has no ID

ALDIE, Gum Spring Rd., Nov. 1. A resident found a poodle-type dog in the road and brought it to a nearby fire station. An animal control officer picked up the approximately 2-year-old male, which had no identification and was taken to the animal shelter. Lost-dog reports were checked; no match was found.

Deer makes tracks for woods

LEESBURG, Vestals Pl., Nov. 3. An animal control officer responded to a report of an injured deer. When the officer arrived, the deer appeared to be in good condition. It ran into the wild and was left alone.
