The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office says it is investigating a fire at a Frederick gas station in which a man was badly burned.
Spokesman Joseph Zurolo says the 26-year-old man was injured early Wednesday morning.
Authorities responded shortly after 4 a.m. to a reported vehicle fire at the Exxon station on state Route 85 near the Interstate 270 interchange.
A Frederick County sheriff's deputy found the victim on fire in an adjacent parking lot, and a vehicle and fuel pumps in flames at the gas station.
A state police helicopter flew the victim to the Washington Hospital Center burn unit in the District of Columbia.
