A driver on the Beltway was killed Wednesday when he crashed and his van burst into flames, according to the Maryland State Police.
About 2:20 p.m., troopers were notified of the wreck, which occurred on the inner loop between the Connecticut Avenue and Route 355 exits.
Officials did not release the man's name Wednesday evening because they had not notified his family members. No one else was injured. As of 6:15 p.m., one lane was still closed while officers worked at the scene.
