Track maintenance on Metrorail's Orange, Blue and Yellow lines will cause some delays this weekend as inbound and outbound trains take turns sharing one track. Riders on 15 Metrobus lines will also experience delays when they are detoured because of weekend events.
On the Orange Line, riders traveling between the Cheverly and Stadium-Armory stations should add at least 30 minutes to their travel time.
Metro will be replacing crossties and will conduct maintenance on the aerial structure outside the Stadium-Armory station. Trains will share one track between the two stations from 9:30 p.m. Friday to midnight Sunday.
Riders should allow at least 30 minutes more for their travel time when riding between the Braddock Road and Van Dorn Street stations on the Blue Line and between the Braddock Road and Huntington on the Yellow Line.
Metro will be trimming weeds and leaves along the tracks, which will force trains to share one track between the stations from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
All Blue and Yellow line trains will operate to the Huntington station during these times. Metro will operate a special Blue Line shuttle train between the Franconia-Springfield and King Street stations.
At the King Street station, riders will be able to catch a Blue or Yellow Line train to the Largo Town Center or Fort Totten stations. Riders who park at the Franconia-Springfield and Van Dorn Street stations should consider parking at the Huntington station to avoid the delays. There is no charge for weekend parking.
Metrobus line 52 V7 will be rerouted from 7 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of construction that will close D Street SW between 10th and 12th streets.
Metrobus lines 32, 34, 36, 54, 64, 70, A42, A46, A48, P6, S2, S4 and V8 will be rerouted from 5:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday for the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation half-marathon and 5K that will close Pennsylvania Avenue NW between 13th and 14th streets.
