Gar-Field at No. 12 Woodbridge, 7

Woodbridge (9-0) will be without its top receiver, Darius Smith, who's serving a two-game suspension after throwing a punch last week at Osbourn Park. Senior Demetrius Quarles will shoulder the extra load. Quarles led the team in touchdown catches last year with five. Watch Gar-Field's Austin Copeland. He has 74 tackles and eight sacks while rotating between defensive end, linebacker and sometimes even safety. The Vikings have won five of six meetings since 2004, but Gar-Field (6-3) needs a victory to have a shot at making the playoffs.

W-L at Yorktown, 7:30

This could be for a Division 5 Northern Region playoff berth. Yorktown (5-4) might be able to absorb a loss and still qualify but Washington-Lee (5-4) needs a win to be in. W-L has not beaten Yorktown since 1982, but with a victory, the Generals would have their most wins since going 7-3 in 1993. Yorktown has weathered mono, MRSA, swine flu and broken bones. "It's just been unbelievable the number of missed games we've had from starters," Patriots Coach Bruce Hanson said.

AROUND THE AREA

Stuart (3-6) plays at Falls Church (4-5) in the 50th annual Bell Game. Stuart already has its most wins since going 4-6 in 1998. Falls Church picked up its lone victory against Stuart last season, its ninth win in the past 10 meetings. The trophy awarded to the annual winner is a bell off the USS Jeb Stuart. . . .

No. 20 W.T. Woodson (8-1) aims for a seventh straight win and could wrap up the Virginia AAA Patriot District title in its first season in the league. The Cavaliers host South County (6-3) . . . .

No. 9 Battlefield has allowed a touchdown or less in six of nine games and scored more than 40 points in three of its past four. . . .

Three weeks after dropping its first game to a Liberty District opponent ever, Stone Bridge (8-1) will host South Lakes (5-4) Friday night.
