Peter A. Rohrbach Law Firm Partner

Peter A. Rohrbach, 56, a communications lawyer who had been a partner since 1987 at Hogan & Hartson in Washington, died Oct. 25 at the University of Maryland hospital in Baltimore. He had complications from lymphoma.

Mr. Rohrbach joined Hogan & Hartson in 1979 and was co-chairman of the firm's communications practice group. He specialized in mergers and acquisitions, regulatory proceedings and compliance counseling, and he worked extensively in telecommunications law. His clients included Qwest, Clear Channel and XM Radio, according to the firm's Web site.

Peter Alpaugh Rohrbach was born in Hartford, Conn. He graduated magna cum laude in 1975 from Yale University and graduated in 1979 from Stanford University's law school.

Mr. Rohrbach lived in McLean. He was a volunteer teacher with the outreach program of Thurgood Marshall Academy, a public charter high school in Washington.

He enjoyed fine arts, particularly theater, and the outdoors. In 2007, he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania with his son James.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Linda Alperin Rohrbach of McLean; two sons, James Rohrbach of San Francisco and Andrew Rohrbach of McLean; his parents, John and Caroline Rohrbach of Bloomfield, Conn.; two brothers; and a sister.

Katarina O. Savino Tax lawyer

Katarina O. Savino, 35, a tax lawyer who worked for two District law firms in recent years, including Miller and Chevalier and what is now Bingham, died Oct. 10 at her home in Washington. She had brain cancer.

Mrs. Savino worked at Miller and Chevalier from 2002 to 2007. She then worked for McKee Nelson, which became Bingham. She left the firm in August.

She was born Katarina Olivia Rutkus in Washington and raised in Cabin John. She was a 1991 graduate of Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda and received a bachelor's degree in economics and political science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1996. She received a law degree from Harvard in 2002.
