Plenty to chew on in Week 9
Saints and Colts remain undefeated, Redskins remain inept

Finally, there were a ton of good, close games of consequence in the NFL. The three best:
Chargers over Giants: Wow, are the Giants done after losing four straight? The worst of all might have been allowing the Chargers, notoriously inept when they have to travel east, to come from behind in the fourth quarter to win in Giants Stadium. Is Tom Coughlin now out of motivational tricks?
Colts over Texans: Peyton Manning threw 40 -- yes, 40 -- passes in the first half and Dallas Clark caught 14 in the game, approaching a record for a tight end. A Houston victory could have really put some pressure on Indy, but that's over and done. Don't look now, but the Patriots are coming, the Patriots are coming . . . to Indy on Sunday night.
Saints over Panthers: Two great things for New Orleans: They won. And they won close, which will serve the Saints well down the stretch and in the playoffs.
Pardon these picks
Packers over Bucs: I tried to tell the Packers this was a trap game. It had none of the emotion of Vikings-Packers last week; still Tampa is just a dreadful team and Green Bay missed a golden chance to push its way up the wild-card pyramid with a sloppy and uninspired performance.
Texans over Colts: How does Kris Brown, the Houston place kicker, miss a 42-yard kick in a dome that would have taken the game to overtime? I had this nailed, even after the Colts started out with a 13-0 lead. This was the upset of the day, only he didn't kick the field goal and I get taken down because of it. I know, I know; Houston has never won in Indy. WELL, THEY SHOULD HAVE SUNDAY!
Ravens over Bengals: Cincy really is the better team. Really. They're undefeated within the division. And Cedric Benson is the story of the year, the way he's running the ball this season. Chad Ochocinco thinking of offering a single dollar bill to an official to buy a call is the funniest thing we'll see all year. Hopefully, the NFL will have a sense of humor about this.
Three picks I nailed
Cardinals over Bears: A bad defense like Chicago's cannot stop Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald when they're on their A games. And they were.
Patriots over Dolphins: One of the day's better games . . . The Dolphins have to be the most frustrated team in the league. We'll reserve evaluation of the Patriots until after Sunday's game in Indy.
Falcons over Redskins: This concludes the stretch in which the Redskins were supposed to go no worse than 6-2. Now what? Are they looking at 3-13? There will be no reason to pick the Redskins the rest of this season except, perhaps, when they play the Raiders. And since that game is in Oakland, the Redskins won't be favored then, either.
