An assistant professor at Williams College and visiting researcher at Yale University admitted in the District's federal court this week that he defrauded banks, the federal government and credit card companies out of $800,000 in the past decade.
Under federal guidelines, Ernest B. Moore, 51, of the District faces up to 41 months in prison at his sentencing in February, federal prosecutors said. He pleaded guilty Monday to student aid fraud, bank fraud and Social Security fraud.
From 2003 through this year, Moore opened more than 90 credit card accounts using aliases, prosecutors said, wracking up more than $500,000 in purchases. At one point, he used an alias to get a job as a legislative assistant to a member of Congress, prosecutors said.
