Churches offer holiday help for the body, too

Anyone who has vowed to take "just one" piece of candy from the mountains of Halloween sweets that stack up in workplaces might well agree that all that sweetness was whipped up in the devil's candy shop.

Candy wrappers land in desk drawers. Gym memberships aren't used quite as much. Carbs and calories begin to multiply.

Faith groups are offering alternatives to waiting till Jan. 2 and hitting the gym en masse (with lots of added mass). These activities and exercise opportunities will help some lucky people stave off the extra pounds through the holiday season.
