Police identified a pedestrian struck and killed by two U.S. Secret Service vehicles on Suitland Parkway early Wednesday as Larry D. Moore, 54, of Temple Hills.
Police said Moore was crossing the parkway at Naylor Road, just over the District line in Prince George's County, when he was struck by the two armor-plated vehicles, including a limousine sometimes used by Vice President Biden. The incident occurred about 2:30 a.m. in steady rain, police said.
The vehicles, carrying no passengers, had just arrived by plane at Andrews Air Force Base after Biden's trip to Fort Lewis, Wash., and were being driven to a storage facility in the District, the Secret Service said.
As part of an investigation to determine whether anyone was at fault in the incident, the U.S. Park Police said, toxicology tests will be conducted for Moore and for the two Secret Service drivers.
