An Annandale man who was killed by a car that then fled the scene last week was identified by police Thursday as Jose Lemus, 41, of the 7200 block of Poplar Street.

Police said Lemus was walking near Annandale Road and Farr Street about 9 p.m. Nov. 6 when he was struck, possibly by a Chrysler that would now be missing its driver-side mirror. Lemus was lying in the road when he was hit by another vehicle, whose driver stayed at the scene.

Lemus died at Inova Fairfax Hospital on Nov. 7. Police are seeking the first driver, and ask anyone with information to call 866-411-TIPS (8477).
