Orwin Smith bobbled the kickoff, recovered just in time to find a seam and took off toward the goal line.

Just like that, No. 7 Georgia Tech was off to the races -- and headed straight for the Atlantic Coast Conference title game.

The Yellow Jackets clinched the Coastal Division and a spot in the league championship by routing Duke, 49-10, Saturday in Durham, N.C., behind 110 yards rushing and two touchdowns from Jonathan Dwyer and another big day from quarterback Josh Nesbitt.

Smith's 83-yard kickoff return sparked Georgia Tech (10-1, 7-1 ACC). Duke's Jordon Byas tracked him down from behind at the 2, but none of the Yellow Jackets' pursuers can catch them in the standings.

"We've been talking about elimination every week, and we finally got everybody eliminated on our side," Coach Paul Johnson said. "We're division champs, [but] that wasn't the goal. We're still playing for the goal."

Nesbitt accounted for three scores, completing six of 10 passes for 195 yards and touchdowns of 32 yards to Stephen Hill and 75 yards to Demaryius Thomas, and adding a two-yard scoring run.

Georgia Tech scored on five of six possessions to break open the game after falling behind 10-0, outgained Duke 519 yards to 281, rolled up 306 yards rushing and won its eighth straight.

Duke's Thaddeus Lewis was 22 for 35 for 212 yards and broke Ben Bennett's 26-year-old school record with his 826th career completion.

Duke (5-5, 3-3) must beat No. 12 Miami and Wake Forest to qualify for its first bowl since 1994.

-- NORTH CAROLINA 33, MIAMI 24: Kendric Burney returned one of his three interceptions for a 77-yard touchdown and his third pick resulted in a bizarre fourth-quarter score that helped the host Tar Heels upset the No. 12 Hurricanes.

Burney fumbled his third interception, but Melvin Williams picked up the loose ball and ran the last 44 yards for a score that gave North Carolina (7-3, 3-3) a two-score lead with less than 10 minutes left. Casey Barth kicked four field goals, including the clincher with 1 minute 57 seconds left, to help the Tar Heels become bowl-eligible for the second straight year and give Butch Davis another win against his former program.

Jacory Harris threw four interceptions for Miami (7-3, 4-3), which has lost all three meetings against Davis since he took over in Chapel Hill in 2007.

-- CLEMSON 43, N.C. STATE 23: C.J. Spiller became the first player in Clemson history to record a touchdown passing, rushing and receiving in the same game, helping the No. 24 Tigers defeat the Wolfpack in Raleigh, N.C.

Clemson (7-3, 5-2) won its fifth consecutive game and leads Boston College by a half-game in the Atlantic Division.

North Carolina State (4-6, 1-5) allowed at least 30 points for the seventh straight game.

-- FLORIDA STATE 41, WAKE FOREST 28: Jermaine Thomas rushed for 149 yards and a touchdown, quarterback E.J. Manuel was effective in his first career start, and the Seminoles kept their bowl hopes alive in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Florida State (5-5, 3-4) can qualify for a bowl for a record 28th straight year with a win next week against Maryland.

The Demon Deacons (4-7, 2-5) lost their fifth straight in a sour final home game for quarterback Riley Skinner.
