BAGHDAD -- The U.S. military says an American soldier has died of noncombat-related injuries in Iraq.
A military statement says the Multi-National Division - North soldier died on Monday of injuries sustained in a vehicle accident during a patrol.
The statement says the soldier received immediate medical treatment and was rushed to a nearby U.S. medical facility, but could not be saved. It didn't say where in Iraq the accident happened.
The soldier's name is being withheld until family members can be notified.
The death raise to at least 4,363 the number of U.S. military personnel who have died in the Iraq war since it began in March 2003. That's according to an Associated Press count.
