Court clerk named

The District's federal court has tapped Angela Caesar, a long-time court official, to be its top clerk.

Caesar, 43, will oversee a staff of 84 and an annual budget of about $10 million. She has worked in the office for 19 years and was deputy for administration before being given the top job.

Adoption ceremony

Dozens of foster children from the District will be formally adopted Saturday in a public ceremony at D.C. Superior Court.

The city's annual adoption day, in its 23rd year, is a celebration of adoptions over the past year and an effort to encourage families to adopt foster children who are not going to be reunited with their birth families.

About 2,100 D.C. children are in foster care.

The ceremony, which will include children as young as 1 and as old as 16, is open to the public. It begins at 10 a.m. at D.C. Superior Court, 500 Indiana Ave. NW. For information about adoption: in the District, call 202-671-LOVE (5683); in Maryland, 800-39-ADOPT (23678); and in Virginia, 800-DO-ADOPT (362-3678).
