How to volunteer at Washington area airports

All three Washington area airports provide volunteer opportunities at their information desks. Candidates should have a fondness for airports and a knack with travel-related questions, concerns and conundrums. Orientation is required; perks include free parking and discounts at on-site concessions.

Reagan National and Washington Dulles

Travelers Aid (202-546-1127, runs the outposts at the two Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority facilities. BWI Marshall

With Pathfinders, nearly 180 volunteers staff customer service desks throughout the airport. The program is at capacity but may resume taking on new volunteers next summer. A commitment of four hours per week is suggested. Info: 410-859-7826,
