Jay Gavin scored 20 points, Larry Sanders 17 and Virginia Commonwealth never trailed in an 82-69 upset of No. 17 Oklahoma on Saturday night.

The victory spoiled the return to Richmond of Oklahoma Coach Jeff Capel, who used to coach the Rams.

Leading by one early on, the Rams (2-1) used a 20-8 spurt to take control of the game. VCU hit six straight three-pointers during the run, including two by Gavin.

Oklahoma cut the deficit to 31-22 with 8 minutes 8 seconds left before going without a field goal for just more than six minutes. VCU extended its advantage to 40-23 with 4:35 left on two free throws by T.J. Gwynn.

The Sooners (1-2) cut the lead to 10 at the half, but could get no closer in the second half. Oklahoma went through a drought in the second half, hitting just two field goals over a 10 minute 42 second span before Tony Crocker's three-pointer made it 75-65 with 1:54 left.

The Rams missed only one free throw over the final 23 seconds to end any hopes of a Sooners rally.

Crocker led the Sooners with 19 points.

It marked the first ranked team to play in the Siegel Center, which opened in 1999.

-- DUKE 104, RADFORD 67: Freshman Andre Dawkins scored a season-high 20 points and the No. 9 Blue Devils matched a school record with 18 three-pointers in rout of the Highlanders in Durham, N.C.

Nolan Smith added 20 points and Jon Scheyer had 18 for Duke (4-0). The Blue Devils shot 50 percent before halftime and matched the school record with 13 three-pointers in a half.

After that, the only question was whether they would launch enough three-pointers to surpass the school record set in 2000 and matched against Monmouth in the first round of the 2001 NCAA tournament. They finished 18 for 32 from long range and shot 48.6 percent overall.

Artsiom Parakhouski had 23 points and 14 rebounds in his third straight 20-point game for the Highlanders (2-1).

The Blue Devils, who won their first three games by an average of nearly 34 points, cruised to their NCAA-record 72nd consecutive nonconference win at Cameron Indoor Stadium and earned their 32nd straight home win against an unranked team.

-- KENTUCKY 92, RIDER 63: Freshman John Wall had 21 points and 11 assists as the No. 4 Wildcats dominated the visiting Broncs in the Cancun Challenge.

Patrick Patterson added 19 points and a career-high 18 rebounds for the Wildcats (4-0). The team hardly looked like the one Coach John Calipari called the "worst" defensive team he's seen in 20 years following wins over Miami (Ohio) and Sam Houston State.

Kentucky held Rider (2-2) to 31 percent shooting, blocked 10 shots and forced the Broncs into 20 turnovers.

-- LOUISVILLE 69, EAST TENNESSEE 56: Edgar Sosa scored 13 of his 16 points in the first half to power the 20th-ranked Cardinals at home.

The Cardinals won despite shooting just 36.4 percent, including 6 of 30 from beyond the three-point line. Louisville used an 18-0 run in the first half to turn a three-point deficit into a 25-10 lead.

Samardo Samuels added 14 points and 11 rebounds for Louisville (2-0).

Justin Tubbs led the Buccaneers (1-3) with 18 points with five three-pointers and guard Micah Williams chipped in 12 while hitting just 5 of 15 shots, including 2 0f 6 from three-point range.

-- BUTLER 64, EVANSVILLE 60: Shelvin Mack scored 17 points and Gordon Hayward added 15, including a game-sealing free throw with 3.6 seconds left, to send the No. 11 Bulldogs to victory.

Butler (3-0) won its second road game of the week. It has won 13 in a row over Indiana schools and 23 straight in November, dating from 2006.

Evansville's Colt Ryan scored 12 points in the final minute to get the Aces (2-1) within two.
