Youth group to meet
Youth2Youth, for youths with special needs ages 13 to 21, meets on the first Monday of the month at 5:30 p.m. in the Advocates for Justice and Education office, 2041 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. SE, Suite 400. The next meeting is Dec. 7.
The group uses peer mentoring and youth-led discussions to help build self-advocacy skills during the transition to adulthood and independent living. A parents group meets at the same time.

Logan Circle house tour
The Logan Circle Community Association will have its 31st annual holiday house tour from 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 6. The tour begins and ends at Studio Theatre, which will host a reception at 3:30 p.m.
More than a dozen homes are featured, including an 1887 Victorian recently converted into a bed-and-breakfast. Another stop on the tour, the former Louise Hand Laundry building on 12th Street, served as the laundry shop for the White House from the Roosevelt administration through the Kennedy years.

City seeks grants
The D.C. Department of Health is applying for a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to help promote healthier living.
Based on the city's population, the District is eligible to compete for up to $20 million: $10 million for physical activity and nutrition and $10 million for tobacco control.
The agency is soliciting public input on the grant proposals and selection of the coalitions that will meet with the CDC.

Holiday helpers needed
Volunteers are needed to help with distribution of 10,000 holiday meal baskets for needy District families from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. next Thursday.
Volunteers will meet at the D.C. Armory, 2001 East Capitol St. SE, near the Stadium Armory Metro station. The three-hour shifts run from 6 to 9 a.m., 9 to noon, noon to 3 p.m., 3 to 6 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.
