GETTING THERE
Baqueira-Beret is about 200 miles northwest of Barcelona. One-stop flights from Washington Dulles to Barcelona start at $738. Buses run from Barcelona twice a day for about $84 round trip, but it's far more convenient to rent a car.

WHERE TO EAT
Altitude 1800, 011-34-973-645-202. At the top of the Bosque lift (the main lift out of town). The red beans were some of the best I have ever eaten, and red peppers stuffed with ears and lips sound horrible but taste heavenly. A three-course meal averages about $45.
Era Mola, 011-34-973-640868. Tucked into the old town. Meals cost about $27-$42.
Casa Carmela, 011-34-973-645-751. In the tiny village of Unha, this restaurant has grown from a small dining room 20 years ago to an empire with three levels. The cordero lechal is exceptional, as is the local soup, olla Aranesa. Expect to pay about $27-$42 for a three-course meal.
WHAT TO DO
