George Mason's lead slips away in 2nd half

Kevin Sims scored 22 points and Tulane defeated visiting George Mason, 76-71, on Saturday.
The Green Wave (2-3) trailed 40-34 with 18 minutes 17 seconds left in the game before going on a 10-2 run. Asim McQueen gave Tulane a 44-42 lead on a jump shot with 15:32 left to play.
The Patriots (3-3) tied the game at 64, but the Green Wave pulled away in the final 2:26.
Tulane led 74-71 with 15.4 seconds remaining and George Mason's Cam Long missed a three-pointer. Sims then hit two free throws with seven seconds left to seal the win.
McQueen had 16 points and four steals and Aaron Holmes added 10 for the Green Wave, who scored 20 points off 20 Patriots turnovers.
The Green Wave held George Mason to 36.7 percent shooting in the second half, after allowing 55.6 percent in the first.
-- MARYLAND-EASTERN SHORE 65, AMERICAN 58: Tim Burns and Neal Pitt scored 16 points each to pace the Hawks to a victory over the visiting Eagles (0-7).
Burns scored six points during a 15-4 run at the end of the first half that lifted the Hawks (1-5) from a 21-17 deficit to a 32-25 lead.
-- CANISIUS 70, HOWARD 54: Julius Coles scored 27 points and the Golden Griffins beat the visiting Bison for their third straight win.
Coles made 9 of 17 field goal attempts, including 3 of 7 from three-point range for the Canisius (3-1). Greg Logins scored 14 points for Canisius and Frank Turner added 13. The Bison (0-7) made only 36.8 percent of their field goal attempts.
-- VIRGINIA TECH 74, DELAWARE 66: Malcolm Delaney scored 24 points, including the first five points of overtime to lead the Hokies past the Blue Hens (1-4) in Philadelphia.
The preseason all-ACC guard opened the extra period with two free throws and a three-pointer to put the Hokies (4-1) up for good 68-63.
-- MOUNT ST. MARY'S 65, NAVY 56: Jeremy Goode scored 18 points and Jean Cajou 16, and they scored the first six points of overtime as the visiting Mountaineers (3-2) edged the Midshipmen (2-4).
