Metro Transit Police were investigating a report of a person who was pushed into the side of a Red Line train at the Gallery Place Metro station Monday, causing major delays during the afternoon rush hour.

Officials said two young men were involved in an altercation and one pushed the other into the side of the last car of a six-car train headed in the direction of Shady Grove about 3:35 p.m.

The injured juvenile was taken to a nearby hospital. The train was held at the scene for 45 minutes, Metro said. Red Line trains took turns sharing one track between Farragut North and Judiciary Square Metrorail stations during that time.
