D.C. Sports Bog's Atlantic 11 Men's College Basketball Poll

A strong showing all around

Not a bad week for the locals. Georgetown remained unbeaten. William & Mary took down Wake Forest. Richmond felled Mississippi State and Missouri. Morgan State toppled Arkansas. GW hosted a sitting president. And Virginia survived against Cleveland State. I think some critics of voting patterns might have a good bit to sift through here. Have at it.

1. Georgetown (5-0)

Votes (1st): 1,091 (95) Next: beat Mount St. Mary's, 83-62, Monday; Saturday vs. American

Since the Terps dropped American this year, we should give props to the Hoyas for being the only local major with the courage to schedule a perpetually-at-home series against a Patriot League team that lost all its starters. (KC Costanzo)

Drawing Iowa for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge is like watching your best friend hook up with this great girl, only you end up with her fat, ugly sister. Yes, Virginia Tech = the Lamar Odom of the ACC. (Jack Lambert)

Lost second-half lead at Tulane. In their defense, the Patriots are not the first to give it away in New Orleans. (Jack Lambert)

If SirValiant Brown were still at GW, would Obama have bowed to him? (Grant Kronenberg)

10. Virginia (4-3)

Having the same record as Maryland doesn't have quite the panache it used to. Neither does "University of Virginia," for that matter. (Jake Leffler)
