Maryland's Board of Public Works is scheduled to take up a contract to provide victim notification software for the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Corrections.

The $313,000 contract under consideration Wednesday is with APPRISS, Inc., of Louisville, Ky.

The software will enable information to be exchanged between the National Victim Notification Network and the department.

It allows crime victims to get timely information about criminal cases and the custody status of offenders 24 hours a day.

In October, the board approved a separate contract to provide access to the Governor's Office of Crime Control and Prevention.
