Dog hides under car
HYATTSVILLE, Cool Spring Rd., 2400 block, Nov. 13. A woman who spotted a stray dog hiding under her car for several hours asked Animal Management for help. An animal control officer picked up a 5-year-old brown male Doberman pinscher with no collar or identification. He was not claimed and was transferred to a rescue group Nov. 24.
Peacock goes to church
UPPER MARLBORO, Old Marlboro Pike, 13200 block, Nov. 13. A peacock was reported walking on church property near a day-care center. An officer picked up a multicolored male peafowl. It was transferred to a rescue group Nov. 24.
Rottweiler at a playground
FORT WASHINGTON, Tucker Rd., 3100 block, Nov. 13. An animal control officer picked up a stray black male Rottweiler with a black nylon collar after the property owner confined the dog to a play yard at her day-care center. The dog and his owner were reunited the next day.
Dog on hospital grounds
UPPER MARLBORO, Watkins Park and Central Avenue, Nov. 14. A police officer found a dog running loose on hospital grounds. The animal control officer who responded took the year-old tan male American-English bulldog mix to the shelter. The owner and the dog were reunited Nov. 17.
Officer picks up stray kitten
DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Forestville Rd., 4100 block, Nov. 14. An animal control officer on patrol picked up a 2 1/2 --month-old gray neutered domestic shorthair kitten. He was not claimed by his owner and was adopted Nov. 20.
Puppy gets a new home
HYATTSVILLE, 25th Ave., 7900 block, Nov. 14. An animal control officer was asked to pick up a stray 4-month-old black male miniature pinscher mix from a woman who was holding him in her home. The dog went unclaimed and was adopted Nov. 28.
Shih tzu returns home
CLINTON, Birchview Dr., 12300 block, Nov. 15. A woman who tethered a stray dog in her front yard asked for it to be picked up. An officer took the 3-year-old gray male shih tzu mix to the shelter. The dog was wearing a black harness collar but no identification. The owner claimed him Nov. 18.
Dog does not convey
FORT WASHINGTON, North Star Dr., 11600 block, Nov. 15. A real estate agent reported a dog tethered between two fences at a foreclosure house. An officer picked up a 2-year-old brown male Cairn terrier wearing a brown leather collar. The dog and his owner were reunited on Nov. 20.
Police arrest runaway Lab
HYATTSVILLE, Emerson Street at Furman Parkway, Nov. 15. An animal control officer picked up a year-old yellow male Labrador retriever from a county police officer. The dog had been dragging a leash and the attached blue nylon collar. The dog and his owner were reunited Nov. 18.
Dog stays away for a day
BOWIE, Ark Ct., 15900 block, Nov. 15. A person who found a stray dog asked for it to be picked up. An officer took the year-old white spayed Parson Russell terrier to the shelter. It wore no collar or tags. When the owner called the shelter to report the dog missing, a reunion was arranged for the next day.
Overnight care for stray cat
LAUREL, Contee Rd., 8700 block, Nov. 15. A person who found a stray cat agreed to care for it until the officer could pick it up the next day. The year-old brown tiger-striped spayed domestic longhair cat was taken to the shelter, where it was reunited with her owner Nov. 17.
Pet adoption event
The county Animal Management Group is hosting an adoption open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the shelter, 3750 Brown Station Rd., Upper Marlboro.
