Water advisory lifted in Shepherd Park
A precautionary advisory to boil water was lifted Wednesday afternoon for residents of Northwest Washington's Shepherd Park neighborhood.
The D.C. Water and Sewer Authority had told residents to boil water used for drinking, washing dishes, cooking and brushing their teeth after human error at WASA's pump station resulted in a potentially unsafe drop in pressure Monday afternoon.
There was no sign of contamination, WASA spokeswoman Aleizha Batson said, but regulations require the agency to have clean water-quality tests for 48 hours after a pressure drop before lifting an advisory.
The advisory covered about 750 single-family homes and apartment buildings around 16th Street and Georgia Avenue, WASA said.
