Lady GaGa featuring Dashius Clay: "Filthy Pop"
GaGa channels Gwen Stefani on one of the best of the approximately 2 million early GaGa outtakes floating around the Internet.
Wordsmith featuring Cherri: "Icy Hot"
This steamy collaboration is one of the few un-leaked tracks from the Maryland MC's new "Overdue & Underrated" mixtape (which can be downloaded in its entirety here: http:/
Jónsi: "Boy Lilikoi"
The maiden track from Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi Birgisson's upcoming solo disc "Go" is 10 different kinds of awesome. Not only does it feature the singer's inimitable falsetto, but it basically sounds like the most accessible Sigur Rós song of all time. And it's in English . . . .we think.
Nneka featuring Jay Electronica: "Walking" (J. Period remix)
In advance of her upcoming American debut, the Nigerian singer teams with Electronica, who invokes Kanye, and (is there anything he can't do?) finds something that rhymes with "John Malkovich."
AC Slater: "Play the Record Again"
Slater weaves an insinuating beat around, of all things, a sample of Henry Rollins insulting rave music. We're not sure of the sample's vintage, but we're guessing it came from sometime in 1992, which was about the last time anyone called it "rave music." Next week: Morrissey tells those darn trip-hop kids to get off his lawn.
