A 59-year-old man was killed as he tried to walk across a street in Germantown during Monday night's rush hour, Montgomery County police said.

The man, Mohan Lal Sahu, was crossing the northbound lanes in the 19700 block of Germantown Road when he was struck by a 2006 Ford Taurus that was heading north, according to police.

Sahu, who was living temporarily in the 19600 block of Crystal Rock Drive in Germantown, died a short time later at Suburban Hospital.

The driver of the Ford, a Germantown woman, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Police ask anyone who saw the collision and has not spoken to detectives to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435.
